Welcome back. Today I thought I would start with a painting I did a few months ago. It was inspired by a vacation to Paris. Paris is filled with so many wonderful museums that I could easily spend months there. . . if only I could! But I did bring back plenty of wonderful memories!
Yes, this one looks a bit funny since it was "edited". I was using Michelangelo's David as a reference. My boys didn't want me to show all the parts. . . what's a mom to do? Thanks for visiting. And please feel free to share your thoughts on any of the work posted.

You are so talented.
I love the painting and the use of different shades in the brickwork. Hope it's OK to point out that the feet are a bit on the small side in your life drawings. I read an interesting fact that the feet are usually the same length as the distance from elbow to wrist, so they are usually a little longer than the eye tells us.
You are doing extremely well on these leg studies! I guess if a fig leaf was good enough for Adam, an edit is good enough for David - it's sweet to hear that there are still some modest kids in this world.
I REALLY like your Paris painting, too! Lovely palette.
Your painting of Paris is beautiful.
Thank you for visiting Web-OK, Brenda & Lynn.
Web-OK, interesting photos of Kuwait on your blog.
Brenda, your recipe for PEACH KUCHEN looks yummy!
And Lynn, I admire your art goals for 2008. I know you can reach them!
Thanks for visiting!
I love your Paris painting! What size is it?
The leg studies look great...I partiularly like the one where you shaded in the background too.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work, Susan ~ :)
Thank you Serena. The Paris picture is 9 x 11. It is one of my favorites. Thanks so much for visiting!
I was especially drawn to the stone work.
Thank you for your kind words Sandy.
And thank you Felicity for your frank comments on the feet. It is very helpful and I will certainly keep it in mind. And please feel free to share these things with me as I want to improve. Others can see Felicity's amazing drawings on her blog which can be found here http://sketchesbyfiz.blogspot.com/.
Thanks again!
Great job on the Watercolor!
I like your drawings. And welcome to blogging! I also looked at other people's art blogs for a long time before starting my own blog last September. I am really enjoying blogging.
I envy you, Susan! You're doing a great job with a difficult subject.
I had to giggle at your boys and the parts. :-)
I read Felicity's and thought NO WAY...then measured my foot against my elbow-to-wrist. Sonofagun...
Thanks Kate! That means a lot coming from you!
Thanks Susan! I don't like to give constructive criticism usually for the reason - OK truth here! - that I can't take it myself very well! Even when it helps it always hurts initially - but I'm trying to get over it! I just thought I'd share that with you as it is so useful. Kate made me laugh - yes it sounds so impossible I even tried it myself again before I commented just to make sure! I find these little facts more helpful to me than analysing proportions. Another one I find useful is that the distance between the eyes is *about* another eye width apart - I always have trouble placing eyes. But basically, the most useful tool for me is my pencil and holding it out and comparing everything - the distance from waist to a certain point and then comparing that to other distances (thigh to knee, knee to ankle etc.)and working my way around before I put any marks down. (But my life class and the poses are relatively long so I have time to do this.)
Btw, my boys find my life drawings embarrassing too!
Lovely work and welcome to our blog. From bodies, to buildings to dolphins.....wonderful work.
